About Mazda

Mazda began life as a cork manufacturer in 1920, before ultimately taking the Mazda name and beginning vehicle production in 1931, producing a tricycle called the “Mazda-go” which served as the first vehicle to come out of the company. From here, storied history of vehicle manufacturing began.

In the 1960s, Mazda teamed up with NSU Wankel, a German company, to develop and manufacture their famous rotary engine. This led to a lot of success in motorsport, later on, culminating with Mazda becoming the first Japanese automaker to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991.

In 2000, the Mazda MX-5 Miata was added to the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling 2-seat sports car.
