RacingLine VWR I 1140S4 High-Flow Air Filter is a direct replacement for the restrictive factory paper element in Audi S4 and S5 B8/B8.5 models fitted with the 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6. It keeps the original airbox, heat shielding and factory-style installation while giving the supercharger a less restrictive path for incoming air.

RacingLine builds the filter by hand in the UK using its triple-layer Trifoam material. Three open-cell polyurethane foam layers balance filtration and airflow, while the reinforced internal structure and aluminium mounting section are engineered to seal in the factory airbox. RacingLine’s non-sealed outer end adds usable filtration area beyond a conventional closed-end panel element.

Reducing the pressure loss caused by a standard paper filter can sharpen throttle response and support more consistent airflow through the mid-range. RacingLine reports an additional 20 Nm in its testing on a standard 3.0 TFSI application. Results vary with vehicle condition, fuel, software and supporting hardware, but the filter is a simple foundation upgrade for both standard and tuned cars.

Verified fitment: Audi S4 B8/B8.5 and Audi S5 B8/B8.5 body variants equipped with the 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6, as listed in the Vehicle Fitment tab. The pre-facelift S5 Coupe used the 4.2 V8 and is deliberately excluded; the 3.0 TFSI S5 Coupe begins here with the B8.5 facet. This filter is not for a 4.2 V8 S5 or later B9 turbocharged models.

Maintenance: this is a serviceable performance filter, not a fit-and-forget paper element. RacingLine recommends inspection at least every 12 months and cleaning/re-oiling every 16,000 km, or more often in dusty conditions. Use only the RacingLine VWR12 0000 filter cleaner and oil kit so the foam layers retain the correct filtration and airflow characteristics. Do not over-oil the filter.

Installation: confirm the existing airbox and engine before ordering. Install the filter squarely in the housing, check that the sealing face is fully seated and ensure no intake hoses or clips are loose before starting the engine.
